Radical Plastic Free Paint is a brave new paint launched on to the UK market on the 13th September 2021.   It has been many years in the making through a joint effort between a professional paint manufacture, a chemist and the brand owner The Positive Paint Company Limited.

Is it currently only available on line, via Twixtmoors and The Positive Paint Company,  If you see this paint sold by anyone else, you can be sure it is not a genuine product, or that it is not new.

Why not be one of the first to try it out, it may just radically change your painting experience for the better!

All Radical paint is eco-friendly and non-toxic. It can be used on multiple surfaces including in bathrooms and kitchens as well as on furniture.  It only comes in one finish, matt, so as to not  harm the planet.

Product details

Radical is a highly durable, waterborne paint that is 100% free of synthetic plastics. It’s not only environmentally friendly, it’s also free of all animal by-products, PVA free, Acrylic free, Biocide free and Latex free.

It has a washable matt finish which can be used on almost any surface, ideal for walls, ceilings, furniture, up-cycling and so much more.

Coverage guidance

One litre of Radical paint will cover between 8 and 12 sqm.

Radical paint will be dry to the touch within 1 hour but we recommend you wait 2-4 hours before applying that second coat. After that, it will need another 12-24 hours to cure and will reach full hardness within 5 days.

Cleaning

We recommend waiting 5 days before using any cleaning products on the paint. We have found that warm soapy wetter alone will remove most marks, including oil and cooking splatters so only use chemical cleaning products if absolutely necessary.

Surfaces

Radical paint can be used on all interior surfaces, in all rooms including bathrooms and kitchens

This paint has not been fully tested for exterior painting, and as such we do not recommend its use outside of the home or office. We have done some limited testing on garden furniture, which has proven to be very successful.

Always test surfaces to be painted, as chemical reactions can and do occur with any paint.

Packaging

Plastic has no place in our paint or our packing!  All of our packing is 100% plastic Free, right the way down to the clear tape.  Every single bit of packing is reusable, recyclable and sustainable.

We pack our paint into a compostable corn starch leak proof bag, and place this into a cardboard box, with cardboard and paper protective fillers, which are either made from recycled materials or come from sustainable forestry sources.

Application guidance

Apply by brush or roller. It can also be sprayed if diluted with 10% water.

  1. Clean area to be painted in sugar soap, lightly sand to provide a key, and clean again
  2. Apply a base coat of Radical Paint (white or grey) as required, to provide a clean canvas to paint on. This step is necessary on new plasterboard, bare wood, furniture, when painting over patchy finishes, or when wishing to radically change the existing colour.
  3. Apply a minimum of 2 coats of Radical Paint, leaving 2 - 4 hours between each coat
  4. Clean up all tools and equipment immediately after painting in warm soapy water.
  5. Sit back and relax for 12 - 24 hours. You can then put everything back where it should be.
